Introduction Management of medical emergencies is an integral part of life. School students are more vulnerable to risks and injuries than adults. The first responder when a student gets injured is the teacher. Therefore, the school staff must know how to respond to students. This study aims to evaluate and measure the teachers' knowledge to minimize accidents in schools in Saudi Arabia, Jeddah. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, using a previously validated questionnaire to evaluate first-aid knowledge and attitudes among 367 school staff (220 female, 147 male) from various school types. Results The data collected revealed that teachers and administrators demonstrated a better understanding of diabetes management, with 86.1% recognizing the risks of high blood sugar and 97% identifying insulin as an injection. However, knowledge gaps were evident in areas like epilepsy management and proper first aid for ankle sprains. Most participants (98.6%) emphasized the need for mandatory first-aid training for teachers and administrators. Conclusion Knowledge and practices about first aid at all school levels must be improved. Our research contributes to this by showing how many teachers need more basic first-aid knowledge and how we can address this.
